About this workshop
Ribosome profiling (Ribo-Seq) is one of the most important experimental tools for studying the dark proteome. By capturing the positions of translating ribosomes across the transcriptome, it reveals which open reading frames are actively translated, including the thousands of small ORFs that conventional gene annotation misses.
This one-day virtual workshop provides a practical introduction to Ribo-Seq for researchers who are beginning to work with the technique or who want to strengthen their understanding of the experimental and computational steps involved. It is led by Pasha Baranov (UCC), whose group maintains RiboSeq.Org, one of the most widely used community resources for ribosome profiling data analysis and visualization.
What you can expect
The workshop will cover the key steps in a Ribo-Seq experiment, from library preparation and quality control through to data processing, ORF detection and interpretation. Sessions will combine short lectures with walkthroughs and examples, with time for questions and discussion throughout. Topics are expected to include:
The workshop is designed to be accessible to researchers with a basic background in genomics or bioinformatics. No prior Ribo-Seq experience is required.
Registration
External participants are welcome, although there will be a maximum to keep the workshop hands-on. Registration details and the final program will be shared on this page when available. If you would like to be notified when registration opens, please get in touch using the form below.
Let us know you are interested and we will contact you when registration opens. Questions about the program are welcome here too.
